There are only three days left before Google announces its smartphones Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, and yet, it seems that there are few mysteries (if any) to resolve regarding handsets. Indeed, after an impressive number of leaks, we saw the Pixel 3 and the XL 3 several times, while hearing a lot of details about their characteristics. Nevertheless, there is a new leak that certainly deserves our attention, this time from the Canadian carrier Freedom Mobile.
Yesterday, for just a few hours, Freedom Mobile inadvertently listed the next two Google phones on its official website, sharing their prices, color variants, and specifications. Here's what the devices are apparently going to cost in the North (prices are obviously in Canadian dollars):
- Pixel 3 64 GB: 999 CAD
- Pixel 3 128 GB: 1 129 CAD
- Pixel 3XL 64 GB: 1 129 CAD
- Pixel 3XL 128 GB: 1,259 CAD
Now, 999 CAD equals about 771 US dollars. But we do not expect Pixel 3 to start at this exact price in the US, as most phones are a bit more expensive in Canada than in the United States. For example, Freedom Mobile is currently requesting CAD 900 for a Pixel 2. 64 GB – that means 695 US dollars and yet, the Pixel 2 64 GB costs only 649 US $ in the United States.
It is likely that the Pixel 3 prices will start at US $ 700 and will reach nearly $ 1,000 for Pixel 3 XL 128 GB. The two new smartphones seem to have three color variants (black, white and pink), although the Pixel 3 XL 128 GB has been listed at Freedom Mobile in black and white only.
The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will have many common features and specifications, including: Android 9 Pie, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB RAM, water and dust resistance (IP68), dual 8 MP front camera , and single 12 MP rear camera. But the phones differ in size, weight, diagonal screen, resolution and battery capacity. While the Pixel 3 sports a 5.5-inch 1080 x 2160-pixel display and a 2915 mAh battery, the Pixel 3 XL offers a 6.3-inch 1440 x 2880-pixel screen and a battery of 3,430 mAh.
The new Pixel phones from Google may be available for pre-order immediately after their announcement. Therefore, if you are thinking of buying one of these two options, you can prepare your credit card for next week, because October 9th will be the day of the complete unveiling of new generation Google smartphones.
