The two front speakers of the Google Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL are an important part of the phone. They are in the Pixel line since the original, this is partly the reason for the notch of the larger model, and many journals have noted that they have improved a lot compared to last year. Let's see how the Google Pixel 3 speakers, last year's Pixel 2 XL, the Home Mini and other phones compare …

It was one of the features of Pixel 3 that we did not have a chance to test well for our review. The whispers of the front speakers of the Pixel 3 XL being "as good as a Home Mini" and seeming to be only a general improvement over last year's phones, I thought I thought it would be a good idea to put things straight, try to show how much better these speakers are.
The main objective of this test is not to compare and contrast the flagship phones (as you will see in the video, I do not even have the last note or the iPhone to test for the moment). I've instead chosen phones that you may already know or that you may have used before or recently, so you can get a better idea of how they compare to something you already know .

Another goal here is to see how the Google Pixel 3 speakers are comparable to those of the Pixel 3 XL. I have written extensively on the joy of seeing this year's return to consistency between models, and I am pleased to report that the tests corroborate this claim. In the direct test between 3 and 3 XL, I could barely make a difference – even though I think the 3 XL is just ahead.
As a bonus, we also looked at how the Pixel 3 XL behaves compared to the Home Mini. Curiously, I found that they were at least in a similar situation – and you can see it in the video. The Home Mini is clearly stronger, with much better bass and a much richer sound, but it testifies to the proximity to the speakers of Pixel 3.
What is the takeaway with phones? Among the phones we tested, I feel that the Pixel 3 XL comes first, with the Pixel 3 slightly behind. This is not surprising in a way, because every phone we compared them dates from last year. The story can be completely different when compared to Note 9 or the iPhone XS or XS Max.
Again, declaring Pixel 3 winner of the competition was not the goal here. And FTo be fair, the Note 8 and the iPhone X do not even have dual-ignition speakers on the front, so it's not surprising to see them not up to the task. That said, at least we know that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been significantly improved compared to last year, and significantly better than these two phones.
I've also decided to level the playing field by placing the phones at their maximum volume so you can get an idea of how that compares between phones too. It has already been widely reported that the speakers of Google Pixel 3 are stronger, but this should, hopefully, give you an idea of their magnitude.
As of today, the Google Pixel 3 is starting to be delivered to customers and we have recently released our full review. We've come to the following opinion: these front speakers are just one of many reasons why they are both excellent phones and offer the best user experience in the Android space. We have also concluded that they are among the best, if not the best, Android phones that you can buy.
