Google Pixel Event 3: 9 things to look forward to

Apple had its moment of glory last month. It is now Google's turn to present its new material. On October 9, Google will host an event to unveil the latest products from its Pixel, Home and Chromecast product lines. Pixels 3 and 3 XL have been subject to intense leakage, but here's what you'll expect: bigger screens (and a notch) with almost identical designs, wireless charging and a second selfie camera. Pixel charge support

By adding wireless charging to Pixel 3, Google will also install wireless charging support, depending on multiple leaks. It seems that the support will keep the phone in place while it is charging so you can see the screen. Then the phone will display information, such as upcoming calendar events, or scroll through the photos as it sits there.

It's unclear if we'll have new Google Home speakers (certainly not a Mini Update, which just offered another color option), but it looks like Google has a Home product under construction: a smart screen, which would show wizard information, just like those of Lenovo and JBL in recent months.

The product will join Amazon's newest Echo Show update. Contrary to the echo, Google's device does not seem to have an integrated webcam for video chat, which could be a disappointment for some potential buyers (but an advantage for others). On the other hand, the Google product should support YouTube, which would be a big draw.

Pixel Slate Tablet

In recent months, more and more rumors have been raised about a possible Google-branded Chrome OS tablet, and it's starting to seem like a sure thing for this upcoming event. Called the pixel slate, according to Android Police »David Ruddock, the new device looks like a relatively high-end tablet with a removable keyboard, making it a competitor of the iPad Pro and Surface Pro.

According to rumors, the Slate would have several configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and an Intel i7 processor (even though it still runs at low power, since it's about d & # 39; A tablet), according to the first tests and the public code. That said, it seems that some more affordable options, such as the 7th generation instead of the 8th generation, are being integrated.

Other rumors suggest that it supports USB-C, a resolution of 3000 x 2000 – similar to the Surface Pro and a larger iPad – and it incorporates a fingerprint sensor, a first for Chromebooks. Looks like it will be a nice tablet, but the real question is whether Chrome OS is sufficiently improved to make sense of a tablet anyway?

Pixelbook 2

According to rumors, the Pixelbook would also be updated. There has not been a ton of rumors in this sense, so it is likely that this could be reduced to a technical shock, by bringing in new processors or more RAM. A major upgrade however seems to be under consideration: the Chrome OS code indicates that the new Pixelbook will have a 4K display option, unlike the current Quad HD display. Given the few leaks that have been leaked, it is unclear if this update will appear at the 9 October event.

Update Pixel Buds?

Last year, Google made its debut on wireless headphones … and they were not particularly well received. There has been virtually no noise on this front, so it's totally uncertain that Google plans to introduce the second generation of its wireless headphones. It would certainly be nice to see the progress made by the industry (and the obvious lack of an AirPod alternative on Android). But there is no guarantee of that.

One thing we know, at least, is that it seems very likely that Google will launch a pair of cable Pixel Buds with a USB-C connection. This is not exactly what everyone was looking for, but if Google can offer reasonably priced USB-C headphones, the launch will be strong. These are also supposed to be provided with the Pixel 3.

A small Chromecast update

The last update of Chromecast took place a few years ago and it is almost certain that a new version will be available soon. Best Buy has already sold one.

In appearance, the third generation of Chromecast does not add much, or even any of the new features. It does not support 4K, so it will not replace Chromecast Ultra; On the contrary, it seems that Wi-Fi will be improved, according to documents filed by the FCC. This Chromecast is also supposed to add Bluetooth, although what Google does is not quite clear.

And that's about all. The most notable change might be a small update of the design, in which Google replaces the glossy top and Chrome logo with a matte finish and a simple G.

No smart watch Pixel

The Wear OS smart watches are a bit out of order right now, and a good solution would have been to take some energy and direct guidance from Google.
