Design
Google's Pixel Slate and Pixelbook colors are all available in one color, but the Pixel Slate is different from the traditional Silver of the Pixelbook with its beautiful Midnight Blue scheme.

We thought the Pixelbook was pretty stylish in our review, but I'm not a fan of the many shades of white on the inside, especially because it makes the keyboard irrelevant. It's hard to miss out on the glasses on the screen and the silicon wrist rests look a bit awkward.
The Pixel Slate has slimmer glasses and the Pixel Slate keyboard features a simple, dark blue shade, with touches that form a pretty circular shape.
Pixel Slate and Pixelbook both have a sturdy aluminum chassis and a similar size. The Slate Pixel weighs 1.6 lbs (2.7 lbs. With the Pixel Slate Keyboard) and measures 11.5 x 8 x 0.3 (0.6 with the Pixel Slate Keyboard). We could not test the color or brightness of the Slate Pixel, but it was crisp and vivid when we saw it in person. If we believe the indications, the Pixelbook could land around 117% of the sRGB color range and 421 nits of brightness. Prices and configuration options
As far as the value is concerned, the Pixel Slate and the Pixelbook are roughly equivalent, but the Pixel Slate has more configurations.
The Pixel Slate starts as a consumer notebook at $ 599, but the Pixelbook goes to the premium with $ 999, which is a big gap for a starting price. The basic configuration of the Pixelbook comes with a 7th generation Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD drive priced at $ 999, and the Pixel Slate has the same configuration for the same price, at the same time. except for an 8th generation processor. Keyboard and pen

The Pixelbook has a pair of silicone wrist rests, which makes typing much more comfortable. We are excited to test these keyboards side by side when the Pixel Slate goes into our lab.
The good news about the stylus is that it has not changed. The Pixelbook pen ($ 99) is compatible with the Pixelbook and Pixel Slate. And the bad news is that … well, that has not changed, so no improvement has been made to the original. However, the pen now comes in midnight blue.
Battery life
The Pixelbook only lasted 7 hours and 42 minutes with our battery test for Laptop Mag, which is a bit worrying if Google will note 10 hours at the maximum, with the same battery life that is offered by the Pixel Slate. Therefore, we expect a similar autonomy of less than 8 hours for the Pixel Slate, but we will know for sure once we have tested the Google tablet.
Perspective
It's hard to say how the Pixel Slate will stand up to the Pixelbook before we pass it in our lab, but at a glance, the Pixel Slate offers a sharper display, better value for its components and a keyboard really neat (if you want). pay extra for this).
On the other hand, the Pixelbook already comes with a keyboard and has a configuration with a beefier 512GB SSD. As long as Pixel Slate improves what the Pixelbook has done in our tests, it could be a better and more versatile version of the Google Chromebook.
