Another feature of this beta version sees Google introduce a new option "Trim Silence". This new feature is slightly hidden, but can be accessed from extended audio controls. Also available on other podcast clients, this feature removes breaks and other interruptions from episodes and shortens playback time.
In addition to the speed controls that allow users to adjust the playback between .5x and 2.0x, there is now a "Trim Silence" option in the bottom right corner. A check mark indicates that it is enabled, while on the main playback controls, there is a fast forward icon. Playback speed and Trim silence option can be used together.
The setting is persistent and applied to all podcasts. It also works on broadcast shows compared to downloaded episodes.
