Google does not hold back with its latest Chromebook advertisement. The announcement of a minute propels you with Windows and macOS error messages, virus warnings and blue screens of death in an effort to demonstrate the simplicity of Chrome OS. Google's message is that its Chromebooks come with virus protection, automatic updates, battery life all day and a variety of Android apps. This is the first time that Google has fired on Windows and Mac laptops, and almost five years after Microsoft launched its own attacks on Chromebooks.
Most Google reviews on Windows and macOS would make more sense years ago. Microsoft and Apple have addressed many nefarious issues that Google has chosen to highlight. Windows 10 comes with built-in virus protection, automatic updates, and many laptops now offer "all-day" battery life. The strength of Chrome OS lies in its pure simplicity, which is not necessarily well demonstrated in an ad designed to highlight old error messages.
just as laptop manufacturers are entering the season back to school. This is a chance for Google and others to convince students and teachers to buy new machines for a new school year. Microsoft launches this week its new Surface Go that addresses clearly to students, and Apple has already launched its free promotion of headphones for some MacBooks.
Google has a strong lead in the US education market through its Chromebooks, and its latest advertisement indicates that it is ready to fight for even more market share. It is possible that Chrome OS is not yet ready to support the iPad, but Google continues to prove that Chromebooks are ready to deal with laptops and Mac Windows computers.
