Google's Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL models are currently two of our favorite Android smartphones, but they have significant flaws. One of the most boring problems to date is a flaw in memory management. Today, Google has confirmed that a fix would soon be fixed for Pixel 3 memory issues.

The best gifts for Android users

In a statement sent to 9to5Google this morning, the company confirmed that a fix would arrive "in the coming weeks" to alleviate memory problems on the device. Specifically, a Google spokesman said that this update "will prevent applications in the background from being closed prematurely".

The statement mentions that this will happen in "certain situations" and it is not clear what that means. Many users have noted that taking photos often destroys background applications such as music apps, so it is likely that this will be one of the "certain situations" that Google refers to. We contacted the company for clarification on this point.

At the moment, there is no clear timetable for when this update will come out of "in the coming weeks". Google tells us that this update will not happen with today 's security update, but it will not will arrive with a monthly security update. Let's hope it means that this will happen with the release of December, as these Pixel 3 memory issues have been pretty boring in everyday use.

To be clear, this is not the same fix that Google has implemented to ensure that the camera will not fail to save a photo.

We will launch a software update in the coming weeks to prevent back-end applications from being closed prematurely in certain situations.
