Is it dramatic? Perhaps. After all, we are conditioned to upgrade our phones every two years – or, for some people, every year.
At this point, however, I must assume that we have gone as far as possible in the foreseeable future in terms of technological progress. Future smartphones may be a little faster, their battery will have a slightly longer battery life or their camera will be slightly improved. The design might change a bit – you see: notch – and tech companies could remove features you thought were a given, such as the headphone jack
But will the smartphone really be revolutionized in the coming years? Or are we just going to continue to see similar iterations on the same idea until the smartphone is completely replaced? If you ask me, it's the last one.
That is why you can buy Pixel 3 today and log out for the next two or five years. This phone is about as good as it is going to be.
