Google's streaming service, YouTube, went out of business on Wednesday morning, with users complaining that they could not access the website.
The service was reinstated at 11 am HK / SIN, although YouTube did not explain the cause of the outage.
Previously, when users were trying to access YouTube.com, they were greeted with a blank page containing no video. On the application, an error message said: "There was a problem with the network [503]. "
A map on DownDetector, which tracks real-time status and outage information for various types of services, showed that users located in the United States, Brazil, Japan, parts of Australia, in South-East Asia and Western Europe were affected.
YouTube acknowledged the crash on Twitter and said it was working to fix the problem.
More than an hour later, the company tweeted that she was back in business.
A Google spokesperson told CNBC about the tweets and added that the company had nothing else to share for the moment.
It is unusual for Google services to experience downtime, but YouTube has had problems in the past. At the 2018 FIFA World Cup ™, YouTube TV – a paid live broadcast service – was briefly put out of service during the match between Croatia and England.
