Google has not yet launched its own smartwatch. Instead, he chose to partner with LG on his Watch and Watch Sport style. Recent leaks suggest we could see the first Google Pixel branded watch before the end of this year.

The first leak comes from a person with an excellent track record when it comes to predicting these kinds of things. Evan Blass, technical journalist for Venture Beat, posted the following tweet a few months ago

evan blass tweet May 10 - Here's all we know about the Google Pixel watch

Blass mentions also Pixel Buds, which will be upgraded with the third generation Pixel phones. Unfortunately, it does not provide any other details about the next smartwatch.

We had some hopes that Google mentions the watch at its three-day I / O annual conference in May. The company took the opportunity to provide key updates to developers, including an improved battery saving mode. No mention, however, was made of a Pixel watch.

Later report from German site Winfuture.de technology provides some additional clues. Like other sources. According to these rumors:

  1. This will be the first flagship watch entirely designed and manufactured by Google.
  2. The company does not work on one, but on three Wear OS watches. They are named Ling, Triton and Sardine. These could also be variants of the same watch, which differ in size and features.
  3. The watches will have GPS, LTE and VoLTE support.
  4. Some of the variants will have a heart rate sensor and the ability to track stress with other health features.
  5. All variants with Qualcomm's new chip sport the Snapdragon Wear 3100, which uses ARM Cortex A7 and Adreno 304 GPU architecture. This is the first time since 2016 that Qualcomm has updated its processor. The company has already confirmed that it will be released this fall.
  6. Some sources suggest that watches will be equipped with additional security features such as a fingerprint scanner or facial recognition.
  7. Wearing bone watches are not well known to last. However, the new Qualcomm chip is expected to bring a significant increase in battery performance. By extension, the Pixel watch should benefit. The life of the battery will of course depend on other specifications.
  8. Google is about to host its hardware event in October and it is the most likely date of arrival for the Pixel watch. The last two Pixel phone launches in 2016 and 2017 took place in October. A sales launch before the holidays makes perfect sense.

The Google Pixel Watch leaks add to some recent FCC statements on new LG mobile devices. One of them is for the LG Watch Timepiece. Unlike other smartwatches from LG, the Watch Timepiece should be a hybrid that combines mechanical hands with a color touch screen. The other rumored LG device is marked "FREE". This one should be an LTE-enabled smartwatch.

We will update this article as more leaks appear. Google Pixel brand watches could certainly present worthy competition from the Apple Watch.
