Hi-Rez Studios, home of several multiplatform, online and free games, has announced a game-wide and cross-platform initiative at the studio level. While the execution of this initiative is still far from over, Hi-Rez Studios has published a first FAQ addressing as much detail as possible.

As can be expected at this stage of the game, the announcement indicates that paladins, Smite, and Royal Kingdom will support both cross-play and cross-progress on the PC, OS X, Xbox One and Nintendo switch. This of course excludes the PlayStation 4, but an additional line in the FAQ means that we should always pay attention to this as it evolves.

The line in question says, "We are technically ready to support cross-play on other platforms when the opportunity arises". The other platforms, of course, compared to the previous list, leave few options without naming them immediately.

As we know, Sony Interactive Entertainment recently opened the door with Fortnite, in a way, as a result of a massive wave of controversy that struck after Fortnite was released for the Nintendo switch. A beta form of cross play was introduced, and other games could eventually win if everything went well. Fortnite and changes to Sony's internal policy. Generally people lean towards Rocket League As the most likely candidate for the match two, but if Hi-Rez Studios has an impact on this new plan, it's worth looking at this space to see if there are any changes.
