OnePlus began its career as an exclusively online smartphone brand and has since launched a series of desirable features that have impressed the press and buyers. This led to a major new announcement. For the OnePlus 6T, its next big smartphone launch, OnePlus devices will be sold in more carriers and retail stores in the UK.
Network operators EE and Vodafone will sell the OnePlus 6T, along with Carphone Warehouse, and the big retailer John Lewis. The DataSelect mobile device distributor will also sell the OnePlus 6T. This is not the first time that a OnePlus phone will be available outside the OnePlus online store. The new partners are joining the O2 network, which already sells the OnePlus 6, as well as the previous OnePlus phones.
There are two main reasons why this is great news. The first is more attention for OnePlus. Buying phones online is not something that most people do, and having their phones alongside those of Apple, Samsung, Huawei and others in a retail store retail means more attention. OnePlus makes convincing smartphones, and more people being introduced to them, more people will consider buying them.
The second reason is that online sales can be perceived as a risk, even if there is a comprehensive returns program, because you can not touch, put on hold, and try the phone before returning your money. With three networks and two big names on the street, all of which store the OnePlus 6T, the thrill seekers have plenty of opportunities to try out the device on a grand scale. Removing these barriers is a big step forward for OnePlus.
OnePlus already has a strong reputation in the UK and, according to the company itself, is among the top four brands of high-end smartphones. The OnePlus 6 has sold a million devices in 22 days, and the company hopes to improve these numbers with the OnePlus 6T, which will be announced on October 30 during an event in New York. This is the second 2018 OnePlus phone and is expected to deliver performance improvements, with some new smart features, including an integrated fingerprint sensor.
