Hit YouTube with global access issues, outages – Variety

UPDATE: On Tuesday, YouTube experienced what appeared to be global access issues for about 90 minutes, issues that also affected YouTube TV and YouTube Music services.

At 9:41 pm ET, the YouTube Team YouTube account on Twitter posted an article on technical issues: "Thanks for your reports on YouTube, YouTube TV and problems accessing YouTube music. We are working on the resolution of this problem and we will let you know once settled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and keep you posted. "

Access to YouTube videos began to be restored around 10:40 pm. AND on the web and mobile, reports per user. The YouTube team tweeted at 23h ET, "We are back! Thank you for all your patience. If you continue to have problems, please let us know. "

According to user reports and fault-monitoring sites, the breakdowns on YouTube began around 9:15 pm ET.

While YouTube was experiencing technical issues, when users were trying to access YouTube videos, they encountered error messages, such as the one presented below. In addition, visitors to YouTube.com have created a blank screen containing only the YouTube logo. Attempts to visit individual channels on the website returned "500 Internal Server Error" messages.

On the YouTube mobile app, users saw the error message "Error loading / press to retry" when they were trying to play videos. Similar to the website, the YouTube app displays blank areas on the home screen, while the "trends", "subscriptions", and "library" tabs return error messages.

YouTube's search features continue to work on the web and mobile apps. However, videos are not playable from the results screen.

YouTube representatives have not responded to a request for additional information.

For YouTube, massive and extended blackouts have been unusual. In July, the YouTube TV subscription service in the United States stopped at least an hour in the middle of the World Cup semi-final between England and Croatia; as part of its apology to users, YouTube has extended its one-week credit for YouTube TV customers.
