On Wednesday, Apple unveiled a new privacy website to inform users about how the company treats the personal information it collects. The website describes how your data is protected, who can access it, and what iOS and Mac features you can use to further protect your personal information.
The new Apple Privacy Website also allows you to obtain a copy of the data collected by Apple about you. Here's how to get your copy.
How to download your Apple Personal Data Form
1. On the Apple Privacy Website, go to Manage Your Privacy.
2. The top of the Manage Your Privacy website is a section titled "Here's How to Manage Your Privacy." Click on Manage your Apple ID.
3. Scroll to the "Support your data" section. Click on Visit your data and privacy page.
4. You will need to enter your Apple ID and password.
5. If two-factor authentication is enabled, you receive an alert that your Apple ID is used to connect to a device. Click on To permit and you will get a password that you will need to enter on the website.
6. On the Data and Privacy page that appears, locate a section called "Get a copy of your data," and click the link. To start link.
7. On the "Get a copy of your data" page, you can choose which data points you want to download. Select the desired points or click on the button Select all button if you want everything.
8. At the bottom of the page is a section titled "The following items may be large and the download may take a long time". Select the items of your choice.
9. Click on the Carry on button at the bottom of the page.
10. The next page asks you to choose a maximum file size. Your data will be divided into pieces that you define here. Make a selection in the context menu,
11. Click Complete application. A message will appear informing you that Apple is preparing your data. It can take up to 7 days for you to get your data. You can check online the status of your request.
