Pokémon GO is back with another special raid day, something usually reserved for legendary Pokémon, but this time around we're going with a spooky Gen 1 entry, Gengar.
Gengar has grown into one of the most powerful ghosts in the game, so it's going to be a pretty solid day to try and land yourself at a high CP one. Today's Gengars will have the combination of Lick and Psychic, a pretty solid pairing of moves, and a course of action, as well as a Gengar shiny.
These days are much more important than any other community in the world. The reason is that there are so many raids you can get to and do it in three hours, where there are far more wild spawns for Community Days during the same time period.
It is probably more like 15-25%, but it is probably somewhere around 5-25%. was able to nail down an exact figure. I think in the first one of these Niantic made the mistake of keeping the shiny spawn the same, and barely anyone got one, because no one has the ability to run 30-50 raids in three hours (mostly). But now? You should have a better luck at a shiny, which remember, are auto-catch. My guess is that you will see a shiny after 4, 5 or 6 raids, if your luck is any good. It may be more, but that's been my experience recently.

The bad news? Shiny Gengar is … probably one of the most exciting shinies in the game. He is just barely a lighter shade of purple, and the difference is so unnoticeable that you'll really just have to look for the sparkles to even know you have a shiny on your hands. While this is disappointing, I think that it is a mischief for me to be "original" for Pokémon, so it is more lame than others (Blastoise vs. Charizard , par exemple).
What I am wondering about this event is Gengar means that shiny Ghastly and Haunter will be in the game too. I do not imagine they will be spawning at an increased rate today, but I think that they will be at least as far as Gengar exists. I guess we're going to have this idea, but I think we'll have to answer that.
So, get your best anti-ghost team ready (Mewtwo and Tyranitar to start), and get out there at 2 PM ET when this event starts. Remember that every Gengar gym will spawn Gengar raids for three hours, so make sure you get there with a lot of gyms if possible, or get a route down you can get away from it all.
