Huawei's Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro may already be impressive devices, but the company has also announced two additional variants. The Huawei Mate 20 X is designed for players with its screen and large battery, while the Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design offers a more upscale look.
Huawei Mate 20 X
The Huawei Mate 20 X is based on the Mate 20 design language. It has the same "dew drop" notch on top of its screen and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. However, the display on the Mate 20 X is much larger (7.2 inches) and it's also an AMOLED panel instead of an LCD. The AMOLED display comes with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1440, but it does not offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz as the Razer phone.
Inside, the Huawei Mate 20 X is powered by the Kirin 980 chipset with the Mali-G76 graphics processor, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Since Huawei markets this phone as a gaming phone, it also comes with its own cooling system to keep it cool under heavy loads. The company uses a graphene film cooling technology on the handset and a steam chamber design, according to The Verge.
The Huawei Mate 20 X is also the variant of the new range that offers the largest battery capacity of 5,000 mAh. The company has not revealed any figures regarding the life of its battery, but a capacity of this size should be more than sufficient for long gaming sessions. Since Huawei is promoting this device as game, the company plans to launch a joystick that attaches to the sides of the handset. It would look a lot like how Nintendo's Joy-Con controllers are connected to the Switch Hybrid. In addition, the Mate 20 X will be compatible with the company's M-Pen stylus, which will be sold separately.
For cameras, the Huawei Mate 20 X has the same configuration as the Mate 20 Pro. At the rear, it will feature a triple camera configuration with a standard 40MP lens, an ultra wide 20MP lens and a 3x 8MP telephoto zoom lens, according to GSM Arena. The device also comes with two Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, which should also be perfect not only for games, but for other forms of entertainment.
The Huawei Mate 20 X will be available from October 26 at a price of € 899, or about $ 1,040.
Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design
The Mate 20 RS Porsche Design is the most expensive variant of Huawei's new family of flagship smartphones. The handset is like a more sophisticated version of the Mate 20 Pro with its leather finishes on the back. The handset will be available in red and black color options.
Although it shares the same processor, the same graphics processor, the same cameras and the same features as the Pro model, the Porsche Design Mate 20 RS has 8GB of RAM and 256GB / 512GB of internal storage. The phone will be released in November and will cost 1,695 euros (256 GB model) and 2,095 euros (512 GB model).
