Huawei P20 Pro and other models are removed from the list of reference applications to inflate the results (UPDATE)

Today, 3DMark has removed several Huawei handsets (including an Honor model) after drawing the same conclusions as a published report. The latter called Huawei for inflating benchmark results on models such as Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei Nova 3 and Honor Play. This has the effect of making these models faster than competing phones. Benchmark applications are designed to quantify the performance of certain aspects of a handset for comparison purposes. The Google Play Store 3DMark app measures the performance of the processor and graphics processor of an Android phone using different tests designed specifically for low-end high-end handsets.

As he did with Samsung and HTC five years ago, 3DMark accused Huawei of including software on the P20 Pro, Nova 3 and Honor Play that recognized the operation of an application of test and pushed the processors on the phones to run. Generally, only phone enthusiasts bother to look at the benchmark results. An even smaller number will look at the results when buying a new phone. Nevertheless, some manufacturers (usually not traditional companies) mention these scores when promoting a new handset.
