Aston Martin is working on a new hypercar, a limited-edition coupe called Project 003 code that will select the automaker's advanced technology. The vehicle will be the third hypercar produced by Aston Martin, following Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro.
Before receiving their full name, they were known by the code names "001" and "002". For the "003" project, the manufacturer believes it will look at the "concepts and technologies" used for these two vehicles, even if it will bring new ideas.
Not surprisingly, Aston Martin plays details close to his metaphorical chest. What we do know is that it will be legal on the road and intermediate levels. Aston Martin plans to use a turbocharged gas-electric hybrid powertrain.
There will also be active aerodynamics, with at least a portion of the body capable of moving to adjust the airflow in and around the hypercar. The active suspension will also be used. This, Aston Martin promises, will result in "higher precision, control, and connection", as well as "state-of-the-art road and track dynamics."
In the case of the original Valkyrie, it was a hybrid electric sports car co-developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing. Legal on the street, he paired a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 gasoline engine with a Rimac hybrid battery system. The latter works as a Kinetic Energy Recovery (KES) energy recovery system, which charges a battery from the power generated during deceleration and then uses it to increase power.
A production of only 150 Valkyrie cars was originally announced, followed by just 25 Valkyrie AMR Pro. Intended for track use only, it actually has smaller wheels, so the Aston Martin could use Michelin racing tires similar to those of LMP1 race cars, combined with carbon-carbon brakes. The maximum speed has also been increased to 250 mph, and the modified design includes a rear spoiler, a two-piece spoiler and an oversized diffuser.
What no car can claim, however, is practical. That's what Aston Martin says that this third hypercar will tackle. The "003 project" is also designed and designed to offer more practical concessions for the use of the road, "promises the automaker," including room for luggage. "
"The Aston Martin Valkyrie has always meant to be a unique project," said Andy Palmer, president of Aston Martin Lagonda and general manager of the group. for us, Valkyrie would create an inheritance: a direct descendant who would also set new standards in its own hypercars market segment, creating a lineage of limited and highly specialized production machines that can exist alongside mass production models. Aston Martin. I am pleased to announce that this car is Project 003, and our next step in a dynamic and demanding arena.
Both left and right drive versions will be manufactured, all fully homologated and available in all markets. Production will be limited to 500 coupons, and Aston Martin plans to ship them by the end of 2021.
