I was wrong: Pokémon: Let's go, Pikachu! is fantastic

Welcome to a new recurring series entitled "I was wrong". We still have opinions, but sometimes these ideas change over time. This feature is a way to introduce a topic, to talk about original ideas and why they have changed. Two weeks ago, I wrote about how I felt that I had passed the Pokémon Games. Just a few days ago, I did not even intend to buy the last one Pokémon Game. All this has changed thanks to the persuasion and the pleasure of seeing my friends having fun. After a few hours with Pokémon: Let's go, Pikachu!I am willing to admit that I was wrong.

Pokémon: Let's go, Pikachu! it's all that I liked from the franchise. Essentially a remake of Yellow, Let's go, Pikachu! is a wonderful return to the golden age of Pokémon. From the first moments, there was a smile on my face that barely left. I'm leaving for a familiar trip full of nostalgia. I'm busting (from the past).

Originally, the idea of ​​no longer having random meetings bothered me. I've always loved fighting Pokemon who tried to trap me. If I was already capturing this particular species, the strategy would be to fight to gain experience. There was a joy in the unpredictable nature of the fighting. In Pokémon: Let's go, Pikachu!you can see the creatures roam throughout the adventure. Knowing what's around helps you decide which one to catch and which to avoid. I've met countless Growlithes, Oddishes, Pidgeys, Psyducks and Spearows in my adventure. What's great about this mechanism is that I bypassed those I did not like.

Gaining experience is surprisingly much better in Let's go, Pikachu!. In addition to fighting other Pokémon to get to the next level, players gain experience by capturing wild creatures. If battles are scarce while walking from one city to another, farming in Pokémon helps to become stronger. This will increase your collection, but catching large amounts will make your party more difficult to beat. Although I miss the fight against wild Pokémon before leaving for the capture, I like gaining experience no matter. Capturing Pokémon is reminiscent of the successful mobile game, and it is surprisingly a good transition to the switch. I am delighted that Game Freak has changed the format enough without compromising the overall integrity of the experience.

Honestly, the Kanto area was the most important selling point for me. I love Pokemon, but there are now more than 800 species. It's a bit overwhelming. I liked it when I knew each Pokémon available. Now I can hardly follow them. Let's go, Pikachu! goes back to concentrating on the 151 original Pokémon I've loved since 1996. It's in the Kanto area that I spent many hours of my childhood and I'm happy to be back.

I will not lie – I have the emotional feeling of fighting Brock and Misty again. Reliving iconic battles was one of the best moments of my year. It's crazy to think that in 2018, Pokémon is back at the forefront of my games catalog. Between the big Pokémon like Charmander, Bulbasaur, Pikachu; places like Lavender Town, Pallet Town and Cerulean City; and the gym leaders I was trying to defeat, Let's go, Pikachu! is all I wanted from the franchise.

Look, everyone is wrong at some point in his life. When Pokémon: Let's go, Pikachu! was announced, it honestly made me angry. All I wanted from one Pokémon the game seemed non-existent. Despite the updated visual style, the gameplay did not look like the Pokémon I know and love. I've spent months not looking forward to it and instead listening to friends and colleagues expressing their enthusiasm for the launch date.

Praise and constant worship for Let's go, Pikachu! and Eevee! I've finally broken, and I'm glad that's the case. Let's go, Pikachu! I made me feel like a kid again. This has helped me to feel captivated by the franchise that has defined more than a decade of my life. In 2018, I am once again addicted to the franchise. We will have a down payment on the main line, but I agree with what Game Freak and Nintendo have released on Switch. I am happy to admit that I was wrong and I encourage everyone interested in Switch games to try their luck. It's a little simpler Pokémon game, but the end result is an adventure to take.
