Apple's iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are the company's most expensive smartphones to date, and some Apple fans have rejected the idea of ​​spending so much money on a new phone as soon as announces prices by Apple. The cheapest iPhone XS you can buy costs over $ 1,000 after taxes, and the most expensive iPhone XS Max costs more than $ 1,500 after taxes. Even for people with significant disposable income, it is a hard pill to swallow.

The fact that Apple's new iPhones do not really have exceptional features makes things even more difficult. But the icing on the cake came Monday when Apple released its long-awaited iOS 12 update.

Apple's iOS 11 software has been plagued by problems since its release last fall. Bugs and security flaws were commonplace, and the software had RAM management issues so severe that they prevented Apple's A11 Bionic chipset from reaching its full potential. For these reasons, Apple would have delayed several new features of iOS 12 and chose to focus more on the resolution of all the big wrinkles of iOS 11. Fortunately, the company has succeeded.

iOS 12 is a breath of fresh air, compatible with all iOS 11 devices compatible with iOS 11. This is not the case for this year's iOS update. iOS 12 offers improvements in speed and battery life on all Apple iOS devices, and we've told you how dramatic these improvements can be. Users are obviously aware, and it turns out that the fantastic work of Apple on iOS 12 could have an undesirable side effect.

We noticed that users of all social networks are commenting on the quality of iOS 12 and how they might not upgrade because of the extent of improvements to older iPhone models that they already have. Now, there is a link to the same effect on Reddit, and there were 1,200 votes up and nearly 500 comments at the time of writing this document.

"IOS 12 works so well that it makes me reconsider my XS pre-order," wrote the user of Reddit cjohn4043. "Come from a 7 Plus. iOS 11 was not terrible, but iOS 12 is only better leagues. Everything is flying and I wonder how much the performance has gone up. I've pre-ordered an XS last Friday, but with iOS 12, I wonder how much I really need to upgrade?

The two most voted comments in the thread come from iPhone 7 Plus users who said they were not planning to upgrade because iOS 12 is so good. Hundreds of other users have responded in the same way. Of course, many others have said that they still plan to upgrade to Apple's iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max despite the quality of iOS 12 on their current handsets.

Will the new version of Apple's iOS 12 make a large number of iPhone users disappear from their plan to upgrade to a new iPhone? Almost certainly not. But there is no doubt that there are people – many people – who are so happy with iOS 12 on their current iPhones that they will ignore the iPhone XS this year.
