The iPhone X, even a year later, remains arguably the best phone on the market. The XS is essentially a new model with some improvements.
Most of these improvements, however, are difficult to notice.
Take the screen, for example. It's still a bright, colorful and clean OLED display that supports next-generation HDR 4K video. This is one of the best screens in the market, with the display on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. But some of the improvements, like the increase in dynamics, can only be detected during from viewing photos. And even then, I do not think most people will notice it. This is not bad it just means that the screen is still very good and we are getting to a point where it is difficult to distinguish the upgrades.
The speakers sound great. They are stronger than the iPhone X, and Apple has also worked to tune stereo sound so that the audio seems wider or narrower, depending on the scene. This means that movies, games and music will sound a lot better when you watch in landscape mode.
By getting rid of the glasses, black borders around the screen, with X last year, Apple has managed to insert a large 5.8-inch screen in a compact format. Years ago, people hesitated in front of a 5.8-inch screen. But now, it's ordinary.
The larger iPhone XS Max has a 6.5 inch screen, which is larger than the 6.4 inch on the massive Galaxy Note 9, but it still does not seem too big. It's the device I prefer of both, and I love reading the news or filling out crossword puzzles on a bigger screen.
