iPhone Xs Max feels small if you have an iPhone Plus

I received my iPhone Xs Max Friday by mail, sent by my operator. In the last two years, I owned an iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone Xs Max is going to be a major improvement in terms of performance for me. For some reason, my mind was predefined by thinking that the iPhone Xs Max would be huge. The opposite is the case.

My first reaction to the iPhone Xs Max is that it is smaller than my iPhone 7 Plus. Let's look at the hard numbers. The iPhone Xs Max measures 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7 mm (6.2 x 3.05 x 0.30 inches) and the iPhone 7 Plus measures are 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm (6.23 x 3.70 x 0.29 inches). My feeling is supported by the cold numbers. The iPhone Xs Max is 0.7mm shorter and 0.2mm less wide. It only thickens by 0.4mm and is 20g heavier.

While the measurements are smaller, the screen of the iPhone Xs Max is considerably larger. Instead of a 5.5 inch screen, you get a 6.5 inch screen on the iPhone Xs Max. It remains to be seen how this big 1 inch screen will change my everyday iPhone experience.

What is important here is that if you own iPhone Plus, your only way to upgrade is the iPhone Xs Max. The iPhone Xs is tiny compared to an iPhone Plus device despite a larger screen with 5.8 inches. Watch a short interactive video showing the iPhone Xs Max and the iPhone 7 Plus side by side.

The iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max are available since September 21st. You can find a horizon tour offers available on iPhone Xs in this buying guide. Also be sure to protect your new iPhone Xs device with case and screen protectors.
