Jade Raymond, founder of EA Motive, left the company. The studio was recently known for the Star Wars Battlefront II campaign, but also has a lot on the horizon. Now, Samantha Ryan, who currently runs the mobile studios, EA's Maxis and Bioware, will take over EA Motive. That means Ryan is responsible for all North American studios except Respawn and EA Sports.
Electronic Arts has issued the following statement to Game Informer, regarding the change of infrastructure:
EA Studios focuses on providing new games and more creative content to players. Laura Miele and her team have taken several steps internally to better support our video game designers, including expanding Samantha Ryan's portfolio to lead new studios, including Motive. Samantha is known for her creativity and support of game teams so that they can bring their visions to life. She is a very experienced game designer with a gameplay that goes The Sims at Batman: Arkham City at Nobody lives forever at the highly anticipated Anthem. With this change, Jade Raymond has decided to leave Electronic Arts. During his time with us, Jade helped build good teams, and our ongoing projects at Motive and other studios continue unabated. We appreciate all his efforts and wish Jade every success in pursuing his next adventure. We are creating more creativity in everything we do in EA Studios, and we hope to be able to share more in the months to come.
We do not know what remains to be done in Raymond's career, but we will make sure to report it as soon as this information becomes available.
