Constantly losing your keys? Have a dog that has a tendency to flee? The new SmartThings Tracker from Samsung could help you.

Unveiled Monday, the small LTE-M-connected GPS tracking unit can be attached to items such as wrenches, pet collars and backpacks. Samsung says it works better – especially in and below street level – than trackers connected to Bluetooth.

"With SmartThings Tracker, it's easier to find a gym bag or backpack lost at school, a laptop briefcase left in the airport lounge or a pet," writes the company in a statement.

The device also facilitates the sharing of information by family members. By pressing the power button twice, you send your location in real time to the SmartThings app, so that your family members receive a notification telling you where you are.

You can also configure a geo-isolated area in the SmartThings application to receive an alert when a tracker enters or leaves that area. In this way, you will be automatically notified when, for example, your child returns from school or your dog leaves your property.

The SmartThings Tracker will go on sale September 14th. Initially, it will only be available via AT & T, but Samsung said Verizon would start offering it "later this year."

"Using our nationwide LTE-M network allows you to track and locate your devices just about anywhere," said AT & T IoT President Chris Penrose. in a statement. "We are proud to be the first operator to offer the SmartThings Tracker in the United States."

In addition to the functions mentioned above, the SmartThings Tracker works as a "proximity sensor to trigger intelligent automations, such as lighting the lights or the fact that the thermostat turns off when the car comes out of the aisle," says Samsung. It works with hundreds of SmartThings compatible devices, including smart lights, door locks, thermostats, security cameras, doorbells, and more.

It has a resistance to IP68 water, which means that it will not break if you are caught in the rain. Samsung claims that its battery can last up to a week with a charge.
