Side loading and APK sharing are commonplace behaviors in our world. With increasingly large software, many users can not afford to find a stable enough or cheap enough connection to download multiple apps and games that they would like to try. But if their friends already have it, simply transfer the file from one device to another. Google knows and works to make the process as safe as possible, to avoid the installation of harmful applications.
This is where the "Google Play distributed" metadata announced in June comes into play. The protection feature began to be deployed two days ago and, although Google indicates that it was live in SHAREit and that she would come back later in her own Go Files, she already seems to work in the latter.
To share an application from Files Go, open it and go to leaf tab and then applications. Here you will find your list of installed apps and APKs. Select the one you want to share and choose from Send with Go files.
Files Go will then launch the peer-to-peer sharing process, which creates a local point of access between devices and works even if none of them has a data connection. . It uses WiFi, so it is much faster than Bluetooth and large files over 100 MB have barely taken ten seconds. To approve the sharing request, you must open the Files Go application on the recipient device, access the Share tab and put it in To receive fashion. Once both devices are connected, the applications will magically fly from one to the other.
There is nothing new or different up to this point. The feature is available in Files Go since the launch of the application and still works the same way. It's convenient, fast, and does not require an APK extraction tool, but the security process only occurs when the file is on the recipient's device.

In the screens below, you can see that the Google Trips app displays a Verified by Play Protect badge, while the Home app does not do it. Tap on trips install the application immediately with a small pop-up for progress.
On an old version of Files Go (a month ago), the badge does not show up and press to install Trips just opens the standard Android package installation program. This is the previous normal behavior that did not call in Play Protect.
Once installed, the application will normally appear in your library on the Play Store and will continue to update normally. In fact, expect to see an update immediately, even if you were sharing the latest version originally. The size of the file sent via Files Go indicates that it is a basic installation. It is smaller than any APK you would find on APK Mirror. Even if it works, it seems to require libraries and additions to the Play Store.
If you have not installed any application or want to check it again, you will find it in the Files Go application located under the tab Application Installation Files (APK) tongue. Applications received via Files Go will display with their usual name, and not the name of the apk, to facilitate their analysis. Unfortunately, there is no Play Protect badge to indicate which applications can be safely installed.
Since the feature is still being deployed, it seems like it has not touched all apps and APKs yet. I could only see the badge on some apps, such as Google Trips. Others do not have the badge even though I had them newly installed / updated from the Play Store.
If you usually share APKs with your friends and family, you may want to stick to Go Files. Not only is it a neat file utility with several storage-saving features , it has recently had better browsing capabilities (press the overflow button in the context menu). leaf tab to view storage devices and fully explore your local folders and SD cards). And now, it can send and receive applications safely with less risk. You can still share modded and unofficial APK files with it, of course, but their integrity will be checked before you install them.
