Labs with the new Android SMS features of "Your Phone" of Windows 10

Last week, Microsoft rolled out a second new feature on the Your Phone app on Windows 10 that further integrates your smartphone and PC. Now, Windows Insiders can test SMS features in addition to syncing photos, which allows you to send, receive and read SMS conversations on your Android phone in your phone application.

It's still a little bit rough

I've been giving a boost to new SMS features in recent days and my first impressions are somewhat mixed. I like the user interface of the Your Phone app. It uses columns, the middle one showing all the conversations on your phone and the one on the right showing the selected conversation in its entirety.

The application can synchronize all current SMS conversations from any SMS application that you use on your phone, and even synchronize your contacts so that you can start new conversations directly from your application. phone. The idea is that you should never have to take your phone to initiate or respond to SMS messages. I've noticed that the photos of contacts are not synchronized, which means everyone has an empty profile picture in the chat windows.

The actual synchronization between your phone and your PC may require some work. When you set up SMS synchronization for the first time, it works well, but soon after, it starts to slow down. I often find now that new SMS messages do not appear in the Your Phone app at all unless I click on the "Refresh" button to force the application to resynchronize with my phone.

It also means that the application is not always automatically refreshed for new SMS messages and, as a result, I often do not receive contextual notifications when you use another application when an SMS arrives , making SMS synchronization capabilities useless. The app Your phone seems to stop working if the app closes itself, which means you will not receive any popup notifications when a new SMS message appears, unless the phone number is displayed. application Your phone is not open.

You also can not reply to messages directly from contextual notifications, which is annoying. I am not particularly satisfied with the speed of sending messages. It takes about five seconds, sometimes more, for a message to be sent. This is because it sends the message directly to your phone via Wi-Fi, and it's not fast. I should not have to press a manual refresh button to see new messages. It should just appear right when a new message hits my phone.

Not perfect but a lot of potential

Your phone is still in preview, so Microsoft has enough time to fix these issues. I'd like them to add contact profile photos and improve the timing of the Your Phone application and present new messages. It must also be faster if it helps. Currently, the SMS synchronization experience is rather frustrating.

Microsoft plans to deploy Your Phone to the public next to the Windows 10 October 2018 update in early October. Until now, the app only works with Android phones because Apple refuses to allow third parties to access data such as SMS conversations for synchronization with the ############################################################################### 39, application Your Phone.
