One of the architects of the Pokemon franchise believes that Pokemon: let's go This will be his last time that he will run a Pokemon game.
Junichi Masuda is one of the faces of the Pokemon franchise, having been involved in games since Red and Green Pokémon was released more than 20 years ago. While Masuda began as a composer of the soundtrack used in early games, his role eventually became a director, bringing his vision to games like Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl Pokémon, Black and White Pokémon, and Pokemon X and Y.
More recently, Masuda has been director of Pokemon: let's go, the next Pokemon games for Nintendo Switch. And while Masuda took on the role of guiding the Pokemon franchise on a new console, he thought it would be his last time running a Pokemon game.
In a recent interview with Pokemon.com, Masuda described his role as a director. He noted that he had been working on the basic game concept for Pokemon Go and wanted to reach his goal of introducing new Pokemon via mobile gaming. "I wanted to achieve this goal by creating games that can connect with Pokemon Go and feel a little like this without feeling like copying it, "explained Masuda. Given my involvement in Pokemon GoDuring my development, I felt that I was probably the best person to lead these games. "
"But at the same time," says Masuda, "it's important that the younger generation of Game Freak take over the development of Pokemon as a series, and I think it will probably work as a director."
Masuda is also one of the main people who approves the new Pokemon designs and sits on the board of Game Freak. It will therefore likely have a significant impact on the Pokemon franchise in the future. However, the fact that Masuda takes a back seat in the development of future Pokémon games is an important sign that a change will eventually occur in the Pokemon franchise.
