Pokemon: let's go made a big change from the game that inspired him.
Yesterday, the Pokemon–theme variety show Pokechi revealed that future Nintendo Switch games would not use HD, which gives Pokémon special moves that overcome card obstacles. Instead, Pikachu and Eevee will both learn a special technique that they can learn in addition to their regular movements.
The revelation came when Pokemon's director, Junichi Masuda, revealed Pikachu using the Splash Surf movement in a battle against a geodude. The Surf version of Pikachu dates back to Pokemon: Yellow, where players could play a special mini-game by transferring a Pikachu from Pokemon Stadium in the game.
Pikachu and Eevee can use Diagonical Cut to cut trees and Water Walk to get over certain water areas. It is likely that players will need to unlock these moves in the same way that players originally needed to find HMs in the original. Pokemon Games. HMs were a key element of older Pokemon games but have been transferred in Pokemon Sun and Moon. The problem with HM was that Pokemon could not unlearn the movements as regular movements, which meant that they were taking up a permanent place. To compensate for this, players usually loaded one or two Pokemon with all HM moves, which effectively eradicated the purpose of teaching MH to Pokemon.
Pokemon Sun and Moon replaced the HMs with the PokeRide feature, which allowed players to summon Pokémon and use them to perform certain tasks. A Charizard can fly a player from one place to another, while Lapras can surf the water. The PokeRide feature also returns to Pokemon: let's go, but only with Pokemon that the player has in his collection.
Several movements have also been featured in the new trailer, which has not been uploaded by Nintendo. Eevee used a new Fire-Type movement called Flare Burn, while Pikachu's surf movement called Splash Surf. Based on some previously published promotional items, Eevee will probably be able to use movements based on his various evolutions, while Pikachu will experience a flying-type attack that refers to the Flying Pikachu seen in Pokemon: Yellow.
We will probably hear more information about these new Pokemon: let's go features during the upcoming Nintendo Direct, which has been delayed due to severe weather problems in Japan.
