Meet the new brands joining Made for Google

[ad_1]

Made by Google 2018, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, Google Home Hub and Pixel Slate were launched. Along with this annual event, Google has updated the list of brands participating in its Made for Google program, giving us hints on upcoming accessories.

Last year, Google introduced the new Made for Google program, which allows companies to have their accessories certified as compatible with Pixel and Google Home. Although it has not really taken its pace in 2017, things are looking good this year with the addition of 18 new brands in the official directory of Made for Google.

Today, we are looking at these brands, who they are and what we can expect. All these brands have not immediately announced their new products, so it is necessary to make sound assumptions.

Pixel 3 & Pixel 3 XL

3M

3M has created anti-scratch protections that also hide the screen when viewed from an angle for Google phones as far as the Nexus 5X. A screen protector for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL may be included in the list, but with a company such as 3M, we can only be certain that an official announcement. Earlier this year, 3M joined Google and other brands under the Universal Stylus Initiative, but I doubt that's what we're looking at in this case.

Bigben

Bigben is a French company (and not British, despite its name) that manufactures cases for video game consoles and smartphones, as well as accessories. They have a line of removable Bluetooth game controllers, aptly named "Gamephone Controller", at the intersection of these markets. One of them is probably their "Made for Google" offering, marking their first accessory designed for a Pixel camera.

leap

Bondir is the first brand to address a theme I've noticed in some of the new Made for Google partners: brands that make almost exclusively Apple accessories. Bondir certainly knows how to create a stylish case and I can not wait to see their vision of Pixel 3.

Gamevice

Gamevice is known for its removable game controllers running via USB-C. Their latest controller runs on Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 phones (not XL models) and offers a 3.5mm headphone jack powered by an integrated USB DAC. The Gamevice controller for Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 is available now on the Google Store.

greed

Japanese crate maker Gourmandise offers designs for a variety of devices from an even wider collection of brands, including Disney, Star Wars, Spongebob and Pokémon. Their product Made for Google has not been announced yet, but it will likely be another set of exclusive Japanese boxes for the Pixels 3 and 3 XL. Here is the hope of a Pikachu doping case.

Gramas

GRAMAS, another Japanese manufacturer of cases, has unveiled its range of cases and screen protectors Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, as well as an interesting set of "leather book cases". It's really exciting to see how many Japanese brands have participated in the launch. Pixel cameras in the area.

Lumee

LuMee is an interesting brand, offering phone cases with integrated lamps. The target audience is makeup artists or anyone who wants better photos and selfies enlightened. LuMee primarily designs iPhone cases, so creating Pixel 3 products will be a welcome addition to the Made for Google lineup.

Mophie

Well-known battery manufacturer Mophie has joined the Made for Google program. In addition to traditional batteries, Mophie designs battery cases for phones to extend your work or play time while remaining Qi compatible. If that's what Mophie has in mind for Pixel 3, I hope it may still be compatible with the Pixel Stand feature. Nothing has been officially announced yet, so we will have to wait and see.

Nomadic

Nomad, another creator of cases almost exclusively for iPhone, unveiled a pair of high quality leather cases for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Nomad claims that these cases, created from Horween leather, are designed to skate naturally, so that each case becomes slowly unique.

Sonix

The last brand on our list, Sonix, more than any other, seems more focused on the female audience and, once again, addresses almost exclusively to iPhones. The case of Sonix lies in the fact that they try to reveal the underlying design of the phone, the Apple logo in the case of the iPhone. Given the attractive style of Pixel 3 and 3, it could be an opportunity for creativity with Google's design.

Google Pixel Slate

Brydges

Our regular readers will not fail to recognize the name Brydge, since we have largely covered their place (inadvertently) in our discovery of the Google Pixel Slate. Now that the Pixel Slate is official, the Brydge G-Type keyboard is too.

It is interesting to note that the leak also indicated a desktop wireless keyboard for Chrome OS, which has not been announced yet. Because of this, we are not even sure which device such a keyboard would be for. There are many unanswered questions here, so let's keep an eye on this company for the future.

Kensington

Kensington, considered the absolute benchmark for workplace safety devices, has also been added to the Made for Google directory. Kensington product lines are too diverse to guess what their contribution to Made for Google might be. As a general rule, however, it will probably be an accessory for Pixel Slate, given the company's history of docking stations and lock boxes for Microsoft Surface.

Logitech

Since the 1980s, Logitech has been manufacturing keyboards, mice, speakers and more, from PCs to video game consoles to smartphones. It was surely only a matter of time before creating their first Made for Google accessory. Although nothing has been officially announced, I think Logitech would be a perfect match for the Google Pixel Slate.

Technically, Logitech owns Jaybird, which is also listed in the Made for Google directory, but they are listed separately. That being the case, I will, for the moment, assume that this is intentional.

Headphones and speakers

Jaybird

Last month, Jaybird, a brand of Bluetooth headphones specializing in sports accessories, launched its new Tarah helmet, certified Made for Google. Our comrades at 9to5Toys got hold of a pair and absolutely loved them. They are available for purchase on the Google Store.

Master & Dynamics

Audiophiles around the world will be delighted to know that Master & Dynamic has also joined the Made for Google program in its own way. Rather than creating dedicated earphones for the Pixel 3, the company seems to choose to manufacture a special 3.5mm USB-C cable, competing with Google's own adapter. Although this is designed for use with the Master & Dynamic headphones, nothing should prevent it from working with other headphones.

This article is not yet available for sale because the Made for Google page offers a broken link to the article on the Master & Dynamic website.

Candy Skull

Skullcandy is a well-known brand for style of their headphones as for the sound. (I'm actually a little fan of some of their styles.) Their Bluetooth Riff and Method Sport headphones are now available for sale on the Google Store.

Smart home

GE

Everything for Google is not a device accessory. This is the case for the bulbs proposed by GE. In particular, smart light bulbs can communicate directly with Google Home and Assistant. A Smart Light Starter Kit including one of these bulbs and a Google Home Mini system is available now on the Google Store.

Ninety7

As we learned earlier this week, Ninety7 has released a new portable battery base for the Google Home Mini, the JOT. JOT, which took over from their old base LOFT for Google Home, has an autonomy of 8 hours.

9to5Google's Take

Reading this list, it is clear that Google is really trying to cover their bases. Players, fashionistas, makeup artists, audiophiles and corporate customers have designed accessories designed by companies around the world. Pixel phones still have some work to do with iPhone's dominance of accessories, but Google is clearly involved in the process.

One thing is for sure, when my Pixel 3 comes into play, I'll have a hard time deciding what to use with.
