The Blue Bomber is finally on the big screen in a live action movie. Capcom recently announced the adaptation of the Mega Man IP to a Hollywood movie.
Although they have not revealed much about the upcoming movie, the live adaptation has a temporary title called Mega Man. In addition, directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman will write and direct the film.
20th Century Fox will be the official distributor, while Chernin Entertainment, better known for the series Planet of the Apes, will produce it with Masi Oka. That being said, Capcom wants to attract a diverse audience, encompassing both video game and action movie enthusiasts.
In doing so, they will try to preserve the world of Mega Man games, "while incorporating the great value of production and entertainment for which Hollywood films are known."
Mega Man is not the only gaming franchise to benefit from live treatment. Sonic will also broadcast a live action movie in 2019. Interestingly, this announcement coincides with the release of Mega Man 11 for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
