The auto rumors factory quickly took over the story of a Mercedes-AM C53 coming, which was to fill the gap between C43 and C63, just like what happened with E43 and E63. However, to the disappointment of everyone, Mercedes has quickly refuted these rumors, suggesting that the addition of the 53 engine will probably not occur in the life of the current C-Class.
Speaking to Go AutoJerry Stamoulis, head of public relations and communications at Mercedes-Benz Australia / Pacific, said the company is not yet looking to expand the AMG lineup for the C-Class. At least not in the sixth-generation lifecycle .
"Everything is technically possible, but there is no consideration at this stage for a powertrain for the C-Class. The 43-pack is enough for this vehicle, it's a lot lighter than an E-Class I think it's all you want a C43 to do, so it's probably the right package for this car right now, "Stamoulis said.
The addition of C53 in the AMG range is an interesting proposition because it is the only AMG power station to introduce electrification, well before the Mercedes-AMG One project starts. Its power could be between 385 horses (C43) and 469 hp (C63). If you look at the 53 engine in the E53 and CLS 53 models, it would be a 3.0-liter inline mill and an electric motor, working together for a 429 horsepower torque .
But all this will remain as proposals for the moment. With this statement from Stamoulis, it seems like it would not be soon before that happens. For the moment, the C43 lives to see the end of its life cycle.
