Microsoft spoke to developers earlier this year on keyboard and mouse support (KB & M) for its Xbox One family consoles, and details have recently emerged about what this medium may look like – highlighting products by the "lifestyle" gaming company Razer. It means Chroma everywhere. Light up this!
The presentation fell into the hands of Windows Central, detailing the appearance of the programming interface (API) and potential concerns – particularly the possibility of changing the balance of the game between KB & M and controller users in multiplayer games. The recommended solution is matching only between similar controls and monitoring throughout the game.
The API, which looks like the mouse API on Windows 10, only supports USB and dongle-wireless mice, not those that connect via Bluetooth or use custom drivers. A Bluetooth mouse does not make any sense in this case, anyway.
Microsoft initially announced its intention to bring a keyboard and mouse on the Xbox in 2015, and it is clear that we have not seen it yet. But Microsoft has not started to merge Windows 10 into the Xbox One until 2016, which was probably a necessary first step in that direction.
L & # 39; Company has recently eaten his words about virtual and mixed reality at Xbox One, despite promising another generation in the console family in 2020; but I would not be surprised if this console doubled as a PC, which could be one of the reasons for the sudden reappearance of KB & M support. And if that is true, it would support VR and MR by default.
Given how much The decline in sales Xbox Sony Playstation, Microsoft would not have much to lose with this approach and much to gain: you would be able to play all PC games in addition to Xbox games, as well as stream them from cloud services on a single device ( although MIcrosoft may consider its Xbox Game Pass service or its competitors Xbox Play Anywhere and block other services). This could also explain Microsoft minimizes exclusivities at this year's E3.
Plus, this would give a reason to buy an Xbox for those of us who like to play with controllers. But while there are KB & M sets designed for couch operation, they are still a bit clumsy.
Razer as a launch partner also makes sense; he has a loyal fan base that is quite likely to follow him in the crease of the Xbox. Especially though there is an Xbox One Razer edition with the illuminated three-headed snake and a custom chassis. And that would look great with the Razer Nommo speakers.
We asked Razer and Microsoft to share their comments, hoping that they would confirm that it is true, but they did not immediately hear.
