Microsoft is redeveloping its 500-hectare campus in Redmond, Washington, by 2022. The new campus will include 18 additional buildings (Microsoft already has more than 100), as well as cricket and football fields and stores. While work is expected to begin on buildings this fall, Microsoft has tasked Blockworks with creating a Minecraft version of its new headquarters for employees to explore.

CNBC reports that Blockworks, a company specializing in construction Minecraft versions of real projects, created the version of Microsoft's annual hackathon in July. Blockworks also created a virtual solution Minecraft versions of Disney, the Museum of London and Warner Bros. Someone with the Minecraft: Education Edition can now explore the new Microsoft campus and the company plans to update it over time.

Microsoft acquired Mojang, the developer of Minecraft , four years ago today for 2.5 billion dollars. While it was originally seen as a stimulus for Windows Phone and Xbox, Microsoft has gradually upgraded the Education editions of Minecraft and in partnership with Nintendo to offer cross-games. The software giant has also promoted its Minecraft boss at the company's games studio earlier this year. The new role of Matt Booty sees him overseeing Microsoft Studios, as one of the largest game managers under the heads of Microsoft games, Phil Spencer.
