After a brief respite, Skype 7 has a new official end date. On September 27, Microsoft officials said that support for Skype 7 (and earlier) will end on November 1, 2018 on desktops and November 15, 2018 on mobile devices and tablets.

Microsoft made today's announcement by updating a July article on the impending disappearance of Skype 7. They noted: "Although you can use older versions for a little while, we encourage you to put updated today
In mid-July, Microsoft officials said the company plans to abandon support for Skype 7, also known as Skype "Classic" after Sept. 1. 7 would not work anymore.
In early August, however, Microsoft officials gave in. After receiving feedback from a number of disgruntled users, officials acknowledged that they would continue to support Skype 7 for an additional period of time.
In the current updated blog post, Microsoft officials said they were continuing to work on the most-requested features by users and pointed out that Microsoft had recently added call recording and started looking in a conversation. They said that "soon" users will be able to add phone numbers to existing contacts, have more control over your availability status and more.
