Microsoft today released a new preview of Windows 10 for PCs with four bugfixes and a small modification. This construction comes from branch 19H1, which, as its name indicates, will arrive in the first half of next year. Microsoft is finalizing the RS5 branch, which represents the Windows 10 update that the company plans to release in October.
Windows 10 is developed as a service, which means that it regularly receives new features. Microsoft has released five major updates to date: November Update, Birthday Update, Creator Update, Autumn Designer Update, and Update. April 2018.
The next update, called Windows 10 October 2018 Update, will bring Windows 10 to version 1809. While today's version is intended for the update, rumors are circulating that version 17763 is the last. .
Bug fixes and known issues
This build of 19H1 includes the following bug fixes and improvements:
- Fixed an issue that caused the Narrator text to be meaningless when reading the Narrator Quick Start window in Japanese.
- Fixed a problem resulting in the appearance of sometimes invisible application icons in the taskbar during recent flights.
- Fixed a problem that could prevent an IME from working in Microsoft Edge during the first launch.
- Fixed an issue that prevented WebView controls from responding to the keyboard.
- Deploy this week, with more bugfixes, is an "Preview" tag for your Phone app.
Today's update switches the Windows 10 version number from the 19H1 branch of 18242 (made available to testers on September 18) to version 18247.
This release has four known issues:
- When you use the dark mode, the File Explorer context menu has an unexpected thick white border.
- The task manager does not report a specific use of the processor. This should be fixed in the next flight.
- The arrows to develop the "background processes" in the Task Manager blink constantly and strangely.
- If you install one of the recent versions from the fast ring and go to the slow ring, the optional content such as developer mode activation will fail. You will have to stay in the quick ring to add / install / activate the optional content. Indeed, optional content will only be installed on approved versions for specific rings.
The problem of the task manager is interesting because if Microsoft has not yet corrected it here, in the branch 19H1, it has not been corrected in the RS5 branch either. This will have to be resolved before the update of October 2018.
As always, do not install this on your production machine.
