[ad_1]

Microsoft today released a new preview of Windows 10 for PCs with the promise of compatibility of Tencent games and five bug fixes. This version comes from the RS5 branch, which represents the Windows 10 update that the company plans to release in October. The company also publishes versions of the 19H1 branch, which, as its name indicates, will arrive in the first half of next year.

Windows 10 is developed as a service, which means that it regularly receives new features. Microsoft has released five major updates to date: November Update, Birthday Update, Creator Update, Autumn Designer Update, and Update. April 2018.

The next update, called Windows 10 October 2018 Update, will bring Windows 10 to version 1809. The update should be finalized for Windows Insiders in September and made available to the public in October.

As part of this release, the Windows Compatibility team announced that the October 10, 2018 Windows update will be "fully compatible with all major Tencent games". Microsoft has collaborated with Tencent to test anti-cheat services.

Bug fixes and known issues

This desktop version includes the following bug fixes and enhancements:

  • The watermark construction in the lower right corner of the desktop is no longer present in this version. This does not mean that it is the final version.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented applications using .NET 4.7.1 from working correctly in previous versions.
  • Fixed a problem causing rendering issues in some types of PDF files in Microsoft Edge.
  • Fixed a problem that could cause a crash when using the scan feature in Microsoft Edge.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Microsoft Edge to crash after pressing F12 on some web pages if certain extensions were enabled.
  • Issue resolved: Microsoft Edge error page icons were not visible on localized versions.
  • Fixed an underflow in the Windows security application that could result in an unexpected interface indicating that a very large number of threats had been detected.

Today's update switches the Windows 10 version number of the RS5 branch from 17758 (made available to testers on September 11th) to version 17760.

This release has no known issues, which means that Microsoft is about to finalize the Windows 10 October 2018 update. As always, do not install this on your production machine.
