Microsoft today released a new preview for PCs with ink support in the Microsoft To-Do application, Sticky Notes 3.0 and a delayed extraction feature in Snip & Flash. Sketch. This construction comes from branch 19H1, which, as its name indicates, will arrive in the first half of next year. Microsoft is finalizing the RS5 branch, which represents the Windows 10 update that the company plans to release later this year (probably in October 2018).

Windows 10 is developed as a service, which means that it regularly receives new features. Microsoft has released five major updates to date: November Update, Birthday Update, Creator Update, Autumn Designer Update, and Update. April 2018.

The Microsoft To-Do application now supports handwriting input (you will need version 1.39.1808.31001 or higher). This means that you can capture tasks by writing directly to the surface of the list, completing your tasks by traversing them and using marks in the circle to the left of a task to complete it.

Sticky Notes 3.0, which was released last week, is also worth a look for this release. If you use this app, you will want to check what's new.

Snip & Sketch has got the highly required waiting time feature. Just click on the chevron next to the New button and you will see the options "Snip now", "Snip in 3 seconds" and "Snip in 10 seconds". If the application is open or pinned to your taskbar, you can also Just right-click on the icon to access these options via the shortcut list.

Today's update switches the Windows 10 version number from the 19H1 branch of 18219 (made available to testers on August 16) to version 18234.

This release has seven known issues:

  • When using the Ease of Access setting, increase the text, you may encounter clipping problems or find that the text size does not increase everywhere.
  • When you use the Shift + Selection commands in the Narrator Scan mode in Edge, the text is not selected correctly.
  • Narrator sometimes does not read in the Settings application when browsing using the Tab keys and the arrow keys. Try to temporarily switch to Narrator Scan mode. And when you turn off the scan mode again, Narrator now reads when you navigate using the Tab key and arrows. You can also restart Narrator to resolve this problem.
  • This release fixes a general problem resulting in links that have launched an application from another application not working in the last flights for some insiders, however there is a specific variant that will still not work in the current version : Twitter does not open the browser.
  • You may notice that the background of the notifications and the Action Center lose color and become transparent (with an acrylic effect), making the notifications difficult to read.
  • You may not be able to resize the Task Manager window on this version.
  • If you install one of the recent versions from the fast ring and go to the slow ring, the optional content such as developer mode activation will fail. You will have to stay in the quick ring to add / install / activate the optional content. Indeed, optional content will only be installed on approved versions for specific rings.

As always, do not install this on your production machine.
