Microsoft may be preparing to return to a black color for its upcoming Surface hardware. While the software giant initially launched its Surface RT in a black magnesium alloy "VaporMg", the company quickly adopted a silver color for Surface 2. The German site Windows United had initially announced that Microsoft would launch a new black variant , and now Thurrott reports that this will include both the Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Pro refreshed.
Microsoft is expected to unveil Surface Laptop and Surface Pro updates at a New York event on Oct. 2. The new models will probably include the latest Intel processors, a USB-C switch and a new black color variant. If the reports are authentic, this will be the first time that a modern Surface Pro will have a new color on the entire device, not just the type coverage. Microsoft has colored all of its Surface Laptop, but has retained a silver build on the latest Surface Pro.
The edge will be broadcast live from the Microsoft event on October 2nd, and we'll bring you the latest news on Surface, Windows, etc.
