Microsoft has introduced the Surface Pro 2017 as "the most versatile notebook" of all time, with its tablet, laptop and studio modes. But one thing he did not offer was a desk mode.
Surface Pro users can now add a portable desktop mode to their image with the Carbon Fiber Foldable Surface Stand, designed by British civil engineer and product developer Rory Flanagan, who offers an ergonomic solution to meet the long hours spent in front of a laptop.
The Surface Stand is a premium accessory for the Surface Pro and will be available to contributors at a price of $ 125 on the Indiegogo crowdfunding site this week. The bracket can be used with Surface Pro 2017, Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 3 and Surface Go models.
The main advantage of the foldable Surface Stand is that it can elevate the Surface Pro to eye level and encourage the user to look straight ahead rather than down in a portable mode.
The stand will obviously prevent anyone from slouching, but it could encourage users to adopt better posture. As a general rule, it may be more comfortable to watch the screen when working for long periods.

The stand is designed for mobility and can be folded into a rectangular 0.25 inch (6 mm) thick plate. When folded, it measures 8.5 inches x 8.25 inches x 0.25 inches (215 mm x 210 mm x 6 mm).
Using carbon fiber, Flanagan resulted in a product weighing 3 kg (311 lb), which means that Surface Pro owners looking for a mobile desktop will have to support a total weight of about 1 , 1 kg, not counting the keyboard and the mouse.
In desktop mode, the stand breaks down into a tall, thin structure, with the Surface Pro held in place via handles attached to the stand of the device.
That's why Surface Stand does not work with the best-selling iPad Pro, which does not bother Flanagan, who told ZDNet that he wanted to create a "niche" reserved for Surface Pro users and Surface Go.
Desktop mode has been designed primarily for use with a keyboard. Flanagan said it would "flicker slightly" if the screen was touched that way, and this push test suggests that it should be resistant to shocks and accidental shocks.

In addition, tablet mode would be a better option when using touch. The bracket locks into a triangle structure with a top located between the Surface Pro and its stand.
Finally, there is also a portrait mode to use with a pen, which adds another fixed mode that is not available without the support.
Microsoft is about to review the design of the future Surface Pro 6, so it remains to be seen if the Surface Stand will work with it.
