Following his console debut in late January, the release date of Monster Hunter: World PC was finally announced – August 9, 2018. Check out his ad trailer above.
Originally down for an Autumn / Autumn PC version (Google informs starts Sept. 23), the desktop introduction of the series comes sooner than expected. "It's the first time we've been running a Monster Hunter game on PC," says producer Ryozo Tsujimoto in an article written, "so we wanted to take the time to do it right and do the research and the preparation".
In his introductory book, released the day of his console launch, our Steven explored why people love Monster Hunter. Capcom tells us Monster Hunter: The world has become the best selling game of the developer, having shifted eight million copies to the world in less than six months.
Here is the official skinny:
In Monster Hunter: World, follow the journey of the elder dragons as they begin their migration of a decade across the sea to a land known as the name of New World in an event designated by the locals as Elder Crossing. As part of the Guild's Research Commission, players must embark on a great journey to this massive and mysterious land and discover the secrets of this phenomenon. As the hunters embark on their quest, the Commission turns to Zorah Magdaros, a colossal elder dragon who rises from the ground like a volcano.
Capcom explains the collaborations and "other additional content" that made their way to the post-launch console version "will come on PC for free at a later date." This includes the monsters Deviljho and Lunastra, says Tsujimoto
We also know that visually Monster Hunter: World "will have parity" with the console version at launch, but this could improve with free updates. There do not seem to be any plans for mod support at launch, but we know that the game should run on quite old graphics cards. Monster Hunter: World is expected on PC via Steam on August 9, 2018.
