New Alien game, Blackout, revealed in the trademark repository

It seems that the new Alien game announced in January could now have a name. 20th Century Fox has filed a trademark application for a new video game called Alien: Blackout.

Branded apps do not always give rise to the announcement of a new product. It is possible that 20th Century Fox will simply grab the brand to protect the future opportunity to create a game called Alien: Blackout. For what is worth it, Activision brand games like Call of Duty: The Secret War and other games that never existed.

If Alien: Blackout is actually a real game, the venue for the announcement of the award will be December 6, at the Game Awards. The organizer, Geoff Keighley, said the show this year will feature many announcements and surprises, including those of "huge franchises." The Alien series would certainly meet the "big franchise" requirement.

Earlier this month, Keighley released an encrypted teaser for the Game Awards with the slogan "The worlds will change". Curiously, the police seem to be similar to the one used by Weyland Industries in the Alien series.

A new Alien console and PC game was announced in January of this year. This game is in development at Cold Iron Studios, established in San Francisco and founded in 2015, which is now owned by FoxNext, Fox's video game division. Cold Iron is composed of people who have worked on titles such as Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, City of Heroes, BioShock Infinite, Borderlands, Doom and Metroid Prime 3. The new Alien game will be the first Cold Iron title.

Beyond the fact that it's a shooter, FoxNext also said that this game "will provide a full gaming experience." No other details are available at the moment.

Since there are still no details available, it is possible that Alien: Blackout is the name of the game of Cold Iron, or anything else.

2014 Alien: Isolation from UK studio Creative Assembly is the latest installment of the Alien video game series for consoles and PCs. The game is sold to more than 2 million copies. Creative Assembly has talked about ideas for a sequel, but it remains to be seen if this will ever happen.
