DJI uses one of its newest drones and turns it into something that small businesses and government agencies could use. The Chinese drone manufacturer has announced the launch of Mavic 2 Enterprise, a modular version of the $ 1,999 Mavic 2 Zoom, better suited for tasks such as inspection or search and rescue.
Mavic 2 Enterprise comes with three different accessories. A 2400 lumens projector, a 100 decibel speaker and a flashing stroboscope. The speakerphone allows operators to ring remotely up to 10 custom recordings. The flash is visible at a distance of three miles. DJI says that accessories move its products "beyond imaging" and "to configurable platforms that improve aerial productivity."
The consumer version of Mavic 2 has also been improved compared to the mainstream version. The drone is equipped with a "self-heating" battery which, according to DJI, will allow it to fly in cold weather. It has 24 GB of storage on board, against 8 GB on the Mavic 2 Zoom. DJI has also strengthened security by protecting the drone with a password. When enabled, the feature forces users to enter a code each time they activate the drone, connect the controller, or access the integrated storage.
The new DJI drone also uses a lot of the same technology in the Mavic 2 zoom. It has the same announced flight time as 31 minutes, it records 4K footage at speeds up to 100 megabits per second and, of course, it has a 2x optical zoom. The drone also has autonomous flight modes and avoids obstacles, thanks to a series of sensors and cameras integrated around the cell.
