This week's Android circuit contains five goals for Nokia, six goals for Samsung, a new OnePlus 5G handset, leaked images of the Pixel 3 Lite, the UK's first mobile device. Xiaomi store and the latest Microsoft formatting feature in its Android launcher.
Android Circuit is here to remind you of some of the many things that have happened around Android over the past week (and here you will find the Apple News weekly summary here).
How many lenses?
While the Galaxy S10 will probably be the bulk of Samsung's high-end phone sales in 2019, the South Korean company is focusing on two other models to showcase its innovative talents. In addition to the Galaxy F folding smartphone this week, a six-lens monster has been unveiled. Gordon Kelly of Forbes reports:
The main changes are those that turn heads. The Samsung Beyond X will have six cameras, a large 6.7-inch screen and an integrated 5G. This will make Beyond X (the name of the unknown version) the largest and probably the most ambitious of Samsung's flagship products to date. It will be installed on top of the standard Galaxy S10 of 5.8 inches, a Galaxy S10 + of 6.4 inches and a new Galaxy S10 with "flat" budget designed to support the iPhone XR. Apple.
As for the six cameras, two should be in front and four in the back. The standard lenses, optical zoom and wide angle seem logical, but the role of the fourth lens is unclear. That said, Ice Universe, a Samsung insider, recently tweeted that the boardroom was under pressure to reclaim the crown of smartphone photographs conceded to Apple and Google in recent years.

Six lenses for even closer shaving
Samsung is not the only company to use multiple lenses in its smartphones. The latest leaked details of the Nokia 9 suggest that an even more complicated camera is coming out of Finland. I reported the details earlier this week:
Thanks to the images of a Nokia 9 camera released by SlashLeaks (below), we can see a seven-hole orientation, assuming there are five lenses, a flash and an autofocus sensor .
The use of five lenses opens up many possibilities depending on the lenses used and how the information would be combined. Expect a combination of telephoto lenses for optical zoom, monochrome sensors, enhanced low-light capability or any combination of the above items.

OnePlus prepares a challenger for the OnePlus 7
Given the historic pace, the geekerati expect OnePlus to market the OnePlus 7 by the end of the second quarter. But it may not be the next device from the Shenzhen-based manufacturer. There is a motive (5G networks), an opportunity (with a US network) and, as OnePlus grows as a company, there is a way to further explore growth, as I indicated earlier this week:
T-Mobile will look to launch the 5G in the United States in 2019. If OnePlus has a 5G handset and T-Mobile is looking for a 5G handset, there is an obvious opportunity.
Curiously, this handset will not be supposed to call OnePlus 7 … the 5G handset will launch a new line from OnePlus.

Pixel 3 Lite Leaked Images
Rumors of a "lite" version of the Google Pixel have developed this week with specifications and images that have been leaked online. It seems that the handset carries a SnapDragon 670, with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of integrated storage. It can also be delivered with a 2915mAh battery, USB-C and a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack. Ben Schoon reports:
With the kind permission of Rozetked.me, a Russian publication that also disclosed the Pixel 3 XL before its launch, we see the device called "Sargo". We have also heard the codename "Sargo" in recent weeks. "Bonito". The report refers to this device as Pixel 3 Lite, but there is no reason to think that it is the Google brand for this device.
At first glance, this device looks a lot like the Pixel 3 family, especially the smaller one. However, some fairly significant changes have been made, including the fact that the entire phone is made of plastic instead of the metal and glass that make up Pixel 3.

The first Mi store is open in the UK!
Following the launch of its Mi8 Pro smartphone, Xiaomi continued to expand its beachhead in the UK with the opening of the first Mi Store. It can be found in the Westfield Mall in London with a wide range of products. GizmoChina reports:
Last week, Xiaomi entered the UK market with the launch of some products, including the Mi8 Pro, the Mi 8, the Mi 8 Lite, the entry-level smartphone Redmi 6A, the fitness tracker Mi Band 3 and the Mi electric scooter.
Now, the company has also opened its first Mi Store in Westfield London, making it the first official Mi Store in the UK.
One day before the company officially announced its expansion into the UK market, Xiaomi had started selling its Pocophone F1 in the UK via Amazon. From now on, the smartphone is also available for sale in the Mi Store.

And finally…
It may not be at the heart of mobile operating systems, but the Microsoft Android launcher is a good way to dominate the middleware layer. The latest addition to this utility is digital health monitoring. Jon Fingas reports:
Nowadays, Microsoft does not really have a mobile operating system, but that does not prevent it from providing some digital integrity features to control your usage habits. Install the beta version of Microsoft Launcher 5.1 and you'll see a "digital health" section that covers aspects such as the total duration of your screen, the number of unlock and the duration of sessions. As long as you pay attention to these statistics initially, you will know when it is time to put your phone.
