Nokia confirms that devices will unlock in the coming months

Nokia Mobile has posted on its Twitter page an answer to a tweeted question, confirming that at least four of its devices will receive a face unlock feature over the "coming months". The company has not provided any clarification on a time frame for all versions, but has stated that the feature will be included in an OTA (Over-the-Air) update. This probably means that it will arrive alongside other features that have not yet been announced but it could still appear in a standalone update. In the meantime, devices that will benefit from this new feature include the Nokia 8 Sirocco, the Nokia 7 plus, the Nokia 6 and the Nokia 8.

Each of the devices listed is a relatively new device but not really new. However, the company has never been opposed to updating the latest devices with the latest features, so it should not be too shocking that these mobiles receive the new feature. In fact, the ability to unlock the screen with just the face of a user has been found on the Nokia 7 of the company alongside the Android Oreo 8.1 last May. This update also brought the phone's Android security patch level up to May 2018. The face unlock feature should work similarly to this other device and it would not be surprising to see it. arrive with a security patch.

It is worth noting that at least one user has responded to the tweet to state that the feature is already available on the "Nokia 6.1", to which the Nokia phone seems to apply. This answer was released today, so it is quite possible that the 2018 version of the Nokia 6 has already started receiving the update. The news should be taken with a grain of salt, but if that happens to be the case, the update could take several weeks. So, in any case, no one should be too worried if he has not touched his phone yet. The second user, posted under the "@ eddman2" handle, did not provide any other details about any software or firmware updates, if any, with the new feature.
