The fifth Oculus Connect The developer conference is taking place this week in San Jose, California. In addition to being a place where virtual reality developers meet and discuss the future of immersive technologies, expect Facebook – the owner of Oculus – to establish next steps for the next VR. And yes, this may include new material being unveiled.

When is Oculus Connect?

The event will be held on Wednesday, September 25 and Thursday, September 26 in San Jose.

The keynote presentation will begin Wednesday at 10:00 am Pacific Time (1:00 pm Eastern Time) and will last two hours.

How can I watch online?

The keynote is broadcast live on Facebook. Watch the livestream here from 10 am (We will try to embed the video on this page when the feed starts.)

If you prefer not to sign in to Facebook, the videos must also be published on the Oculus VR Facebook YouTube channel.

How can I watch in VR?

Facebook broadcasts Oculus VR keynotes in the business Oculus Venues VR application for the first time. Oculus Venues is Facebook's first effort to create a live social viewing venue where videos can be viewed in a virtual stadium environment with an audience of human avatars. Oculus Venues is only available on Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR helmets. Here are all the ways to follow:

  • Download Oculus Venues on Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR, which promises shows throughout the conference alongside VR avatars if you want to see what it is. (I will keep a Samsung Galaxy phone loaded with Gear VR and / or Oculus Go nearby.)
  • The Facebook Esports page will display information about VR games and events related to Oculus Connect.
  • Oculus Rift users can not use the sites, but there are ways to create a group conversation and watch the stream in the beta version of Rift Core 2.0.

What to expect

Last year, Facebook unveiled its first autonomous VR headset, Oculus Go. This year, Oculus should unveil many more details about its new generation of standalone VR headphones, code-named Santa Cruz Project, which still has no price, release date or even a real name. This model should be located between the high-end Oculus Rift connected to the PC and the entry-level Oculus Go, at 199 dollars, 199 pounds sterling or 299 Australian dollars, which was introduced earlier this year.

It is still possible to hear about price cuts for aging Oculus Rift This year's PC or Oculus Go headset. Connect is also where the the future of VR is discussedsometimes well beyond any immediate delay.

We will update this page with the new event keys in real time.
