Gesture navigation came to power recently on Android, and OnePlus was one of the first to embrace it with a collection of optional navigation gestures. Now, in anticipation of its new launch, the company explains how it will review OnePlus 6T's navigation gestures.

An interview published today on OnePlus forums explains how the company plans to modify its custom software layer, OxygenOS, over time. There is a lot of new information here, but the most interesting point is the navigation gestures of the OnePlus 6T. Apparently, the next version of these gestures, which debuted on the OnePlus 5T, will bring essential improvements.
The original gestures will remain unchanged and will work as usual, but OnePlus claims that it has reworked some things to make them more natural and smoother. For example, when you slide your finger to return to the Home screen, the application window will mimic the user's fingerprint. OnePlus also added a quick failover gesture that allows users to easily navigate between the most recently used apps. Personally, it was my biggest problem with OnePlus gestures, so I'm glad to see him paying some attention.
In addition, OnePlus indicates that Google Assistant will be easily accessible via OnePlus 6T navigation gestures. The company had previously launched a shortcut to access the wizard using the power button on the OnePlus 6T. A 0.5 second press will launch the wizard.
We made the navigation gestures smoother overall. Whenever you slide in an application, the application window follows your finger, for a more natural experience. It is also faster in two ways: With a quick glance from the bottom of the screen to the right of your screen, you can switch from two recently used applications to another. Since there was no navigation bar when gestures were used, users could not double-tap the "Recent" button to quickly switch between apps. This new gesture is a quick and easy substitute. Another thing that users could not use with Gestures in version 1 was to quickly access Google Assistant. That's why we added a new action: hold down the power button for 0.5 seconds to activate Google Assistant.
Interestingly, OnePlus also mentions that it brings a "brand new user interface" to the OnePlus 6T. Since the company has always been close to Android, this is a bit mysterious. How much will change? What does OnePlus mean by the "most distinctive and most intuitive" user interface to date? We will have to wait to see when the OnePlus 6T debuts on October 30th.
