OnePlus 6T will not come with wireless charging

OnePlus 6T will be a smartphone of many firsts for the company. This is the first OnePlus device with a built-in fingerprint sensor and the first to drop the 3.5mm headphone jack. It is also the first OnePlus device to get recognition from an operator in the country, T-Mobile will transport it. This is not the case for wireless charging, as the company has confirmed that its new device will not have a wireless charge.

OnePlus co-founder and CEO, Pete Lau, confirmed to CNET that the OnePlus 6T would not have wireless charging. He also discussed the decision to remove the headphone jack, saying that "this decision was one of the most difficult for us to take."

It recognizes that one of the main reasons why headphone jacking has been removed is to leave room for the built-in fingerprint sensor. OnePlus will call this feature Screen Unlock. The sensor takes up space inside the device, near the bottom of the phone, so the headphone jack had to go away.

OnePlus has released its own Bluetooth headset called Wireless Bullets earlier this year. This is a subtle boost for customers: they should switch to wireless headphones. Wireless Bullets is sold in minutes in some areas, suggesting that OnePlus fans have understood the message. This will not save the company from taking the flak of those who still love their wired headphones.

Lau also mentioned that the OnePlus 6T offers better water resistance than all its predecessors. He can easily handle a drop in the sink of a splash in the rain. The company does not get an official IP rating because it is not convinced that the cost of an official IP certification is worth it.
