OnePlus drops the headphone jack of the next 6T

Many smartphone owners now have a wireless headset, noted Pei, but you'll find an adapter in the 6T box to let you plug in your standard wired headset. Apple, for its part, no longer includes a 3.5mm adapter to Lightning with its latest iPhones.

In addition to the 6T, the release of which is expected by the end of the year, OnePlus is launching a USB-C version of its Bullets V2 headphones. The company launched its Bullets Wireless earphones earlier this year at the same time as the OnePlus 6.

OnePlus made the move after proudly introducing the OnePlus 3 (which arrived a few months before Apple's first no-jack iPhone), whose handsets included a headphone jack. Last year, Google's Pixel phone dropped out of port for its second incarnation, leaving OnePlus as one of the few remaining pillars of headphone jacks. Until now.

The decision marks a change in OnePlus's messaging, as the 6T will not offer a sales pitch for many consumers. The OnePlus movement leaves Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 among the very few current flagship phones with a standard headphone jack.
