Founded less than five years ago, OnePlus has already made an indelible mark on the smartphone market. Although it operates independently of US carriers, Chinese society has conquered an international audience. And now, with eight phone launches to its credit, OnePlus is finally ready to discuss another flagship product. On Friday, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau announced that OnePlus TV would be the company's next big project.

"We want to bring the home environment to a higher level of intelligent connectivity," Lau said at the end of last week in a long post on the OnePlus forums. "To do this, we are developing a new flagship design, superior image quality and audio experience designed by OnePlus to make connecting the home easier."

It seems that OnePlus is still in the early stages of the design of its television, because no specification, detail or exit plan was announced in the message. On the contrary, Lau seems more interesting by giving the growing community of OnePlus fans enough time to share their opinions on what they want to see from a OnePlus TV. Lau tweeted so much on Sunday night, asking his followers to share ideas for names and potential features:

To date, OnePlus has only released smartphones and accessories for smartphones, but Pete Lau believes that "our team and our community have learned a great deal about software, hardware, design, product development and software. best user possible. experience ". Combine that with an active community that has a say in everything that OnePlus produces, and Lau is convinced that television will be a success.

Update | 9/17 15h50: Lau followed last week's announcement with a PCMag Monday interview, where he confirmed that the device will be a smart TV 4K LED, that it will serve as a smart home hub and that the company plans to launch it next year. No price yet, but it will be a "premium" product.
