OnePlus promises to be among the first to offer 5G smartphones

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei confirmed that the company will launch a 5G smartphone next year. That's what happened at the 4G / 5G summit in Hong Kong, where the company's co-founder joined Qualcomm president Cristiano Amon on the stage and confirmed the news. Prior to that, Cristiano Amon had stated that Qualcomm was waiting for at least two of 5G's flagship projects next year, but we are likely to see more. In any event, Mr. Pei also stated that, according to his knowledge, OnePlus would be one of the first, if not the first, to launch a 5G smartphone. Carl Pei added that his team had already completed a 5G test at Qualcomm headquarters earlier this year, in August. Now, considering that OnePlus essentially publishes two flagship products a year and that these two devices are the only smartphones marketed by the company all year, OnePlus probably referred to the OnePlus 7 or the OnePlus 7T, which should arrive in 2019. It is even possible that the OnePlus 7 is the device in question, because Mr. Amon has in fact hinted that the product could arrive in the first half of 2019 and that the OnePlus 7 should be launched in May or June, a year later. OnePlus 6. The device is probably shipped with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem and the QTM052 mmWave antenna module.

Context: OnePlus is not the only company that plans to soon introduce a flagship 5G product, not even very close, as almost every major smartphone company in the world is planning to do it. Xiaomi has already announced its next flagship 5G product, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, which should arrive in a few days, October 25. Xiaomi had already confirmed that the phone would support 5G even if these speeds are no longer available, but the Mi MIX 3 will be ready as soon as it is available. On top of that, the phone will arrive with 10GB of RAM and a super fast charge, not to mention that it will have a design without a bezel and a sliding camera system. The Mi MIX 3 will compete with the OnePlus 6T scheduled for October 29th. Both devices will be powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 845 64-bit processor, although the OnePlus 6T is probably not bundled with 5G support. at least, the company did not imply that this would be the case for the OnePlus 7. The OnePlus 7 remains a mystery at the moment, because the device is still only six months from its release, and nothing has been confirmed yet, as the OnePlus 6T is the next to become official. However, the OPPO R19 had a fairly recent leak and if this leak is accurate, the OnePlus 7 will probably look like it from the point of view of the design. The OPPO R19 that has surfaced actually has a cutout for the front camera on the front, but it's not a notch because it is not connected to the top of the camera, it's actually a small "island" camera located at the top of the display. An extremely thin "chin" is under the screen of the alleged OPPO R19 which has filtered, so that the OnePlus 7 can also sport such a "chin". The OnePlus 7 will be powered by the new generation of Qualcomm processor, the famous Snapdragon 8150, also called Snapdragon 855. We still do not know what name Qualcomm will choose. The phone will probably come with RAM variants of 6GB and 8GB, unless OnePlus decides to go even higher, like Xiaomi with the Mi MIX 3, in which case you can expect to see 10 GB of RAM in the high-end OnePlus 7. variant, so that we can see that the variants of 8GB and 10GB RAM of the phone. The device will likely be made from metal and glass, and you can expect to see a fingerprint scanner included in the package, since such a fingerprint scanning module will also be included in the next OnePlus 6T. let's assume that his successor will also use it, even if there is a good chance that it is visibly slower and less accurate than the normal OnePlus 6 capacitive unit.

Impact: The 5G smartphones will represent a big market next year, even if the 5G will not become a thing before the second half of the year, at least according to all the information that has surfaced these last two months. The 5G is definitely a topic of discussion for next year and the smartphones that will arrive, while we will see several smartphones supporting 5G. The next Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will almost certainly be compatible with the 5G also, and this is true for almost all major flagship stores that will arrive in 2019, because the technology is there, so it remains only to the operators to launch 5G so that consumers can take advantage of it. It is quite obvious that Xiaomi will be the first to the evening with the Mi MIX 3, as Xiaomi obviously hinted that he would support the 5G. It remains to be seen where OnePlus will be, because the OnePlus 7 must arrive after the Galaxy S10 series and some other major flagship projects in 2019. The company could still surprise us and integrate the 5G support into the OnePlus 6T, which will be launched in less than a week, but considering that we have not seen any clue that can happen, this will probably not be the case, unless Carl Pei's appearance at the top of Qualcomm is supposed to suggest it. In any case, 5G support will be a feature that almost all major companies will aim for next year. We'll see if another phone released in 2019 will come with 5G support ready for use, apart from the Xiaomi Mi MIX. 3, but it is not so likely.
